JOB OPPORTUNITY FOR MEDICAL FACULTY IN CHINA

There is provision of short term and long-term contract ranging from one semester duration (i.e., four and half months) to more than one semester teaching at the university. There are two semesters in one academic year. Generally, the spring semester starts from September and the autumn semester starts from February end or March each year. The exact date of beginning of the class will be mentioned in the invitation letter or in further communications. Below is the general terms and conditions offered for the foreign faculties. General offer and application procedure

  • Reimbursement of round trip international and domestic airfare (economic class) from the place of origin for each semester contract. The reimbursement of the ticket shall be made at the end of the semester or contract term. International ticket includes airport tax as well.
  • Faculties having one-year contract shall be given one round tickets per year. Provision of payments during vacation (limited period) shall be made.
  • Reimbursement of the actual cost of visa charge, medical checkups in China and other formalities done after arrival.
  • Provision of local tour/sight scene of two places for each semester teaching.
  • Provision of furnished accommodation with bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. Facilities include Colour TV, Air-conditioner(s), Heating, Computer with Internet connection, Telephone, Washing Machine, Refrigerator. The faculty should pay for the minimum telephone charge for the time period he/she uses the facility.
  • Fixed monthly payment. No tax deduction from the basic salary agreed upon.
  • Provision of working office in the campus/medical college, including computer, Internet facilities and stationeries.
  • Work permit for China for those who are in long term contract (one year or more).
  • Payment is made for the duration mentioned in the contract. Normally the payments are made for the exact stay in China as per the requirement of the university. The salary will be calculated on day-to-day basis, which starts from the day of arrival to China to the last day of living in China.
  • The college will arrange Health/Medical Insurance facilities.
  • Free Chinese Lessons (optional).
  • Arrival time: as per the invitation from the medical college/university.
  • Payments will be made in Chinese RMB and the university shall facilitate for exchange of RMB into USD.
  • Contract duration: one to two semesters, starting on September/October and March/April each year.
  • Courses to teach: Medical science discipline subjects.
  • Accommodation: Free of cost in campus, including furniture and cooking utensils with maintenance facilities. The faculty is required to pay the telephone bills and other consumables in the apartment.
  • Each faculty should apply for the job through the Program Coordinator of the English medium MBBS program. The faculty should communicate with the coordinator from time-to-time regarding their stay and day-to-day activities.

Related Teaching Management regulations

  • The Chinese and foreign faculty should respect the religion, culture, and traditional custom of each other. Meantime, the Chinese teachers can provide care and help for them to live comfortably in China
  • The foreign faculty must follow the teaching guidelines and regulations developed by the concern department and Teaching Management Office (TMO). The foreign faculty can come to the head of his/her department (HOD) or TMO when facing difficulties. The HOD should be familiar with the foreign teacher's teaching affairs, and communicate with them in time to make sure their teaching procedures are in formal way.
  • The foreign faculty should stay in the department at least for 24 hours a week for academic activities in the department. The class hours will be 12-16 hours per week according to the condition of the subject.
  • The foreign faculty shall be responsible for preparation/revision of teaching curriculum, schedule and practical manual in consultation with HOD who must present the teaching schedule to the TMO in two weeks time of the foreign teacher's arrival.
  • The faculty shall be responsible for taking both theory and practical classes, regulate attendance of the students, question paper setting (at least 2 sets for each exam with answer and marks for each question), correcting papers, and conducting examination. The foreign faculty should assist the HOD to preserve these documents, especially pay attention to check justly and keep the papers secret. These activities are considered as regular job responsibilities and no extra payments shall be made. All the activities shall be done in consultation with the HOD.
  • The foreign teaches cannot be late or leave early in classes, or change the content, time and classroom without permission. For special reason the foreign teacher has to ask permission from the HOD who should arrange by formal procedure.
  • The foreign faculty is expected to be impartial and maintain good discipline, morale and behaviour of students and self, while staying in campus.
  • The foreign faculty shall be responsible for careful handling of the office equipments and goods provided to him. After completion of the work, he/she shall return non-consumables equipments and materials provided to him in good condition and get the letter fro HOD with their signature, so, they can get the salary of last month and working certificate from the medical college.
  • There shall be provision of deduction of salary in the case the faculty is found not fulfilling his/her duty properly

Salary:

  • Salary without tax: 900 to 1,000 USD equivalent per month (depending on the applicant's education and/or experience)
  • The salary will be paid in Chinese Yuan (RMB).

  • Nationality: Any nationality having valid master degree in related subject.

  • Education: Master degree or above

Required documents:

  • Valid Passport and its photocopies (first page with photo and personal information)
  • Photographs (2"x2" colour with red background) - 10 copies
  • Health certificate (original) according to the form made available by the Embassy of China
  • Experience/Recommendation letter from the concerned authority
  • All the faculties are required to ask for ‘F’ or ‘Z’ visa from the Chinese embassy once they get invitation letter from the university.
